Steve,

This is Dean. Thanks for the posting. I was here in Tyler, Texas. I was preparing for another surgery. Like most, I was shocked at the "accident" I saw on television. Surely an accident. Then when the second tower was hit, a cold realization hit me. We have been attacked! The enemy has come to our country. I prepared myself for the inevitable call to war that must surely follow. I was shocked. I still am

I was in my Boeing office in Philly, about an hour and half in any direction to either sight. I had the same reaction at first... disbelief; an accident, as non-sensical as it sounded. Typical safety engineer approach.. wait until the facts are out from the accident investigation before making any conclusions. But when I watched the second airplane hit on TV, the conclusion was made. I didn't find out until a year later that Jim Kelly's office at the Pentagon was destroyed. He was luckily down the hall in a different part of the building.
